Presentation Zones (Ver 1)
Howdy!
We've rolled out our new Presentation Zones plugin, which allows for moderated discussions within specified audio zones in a Vatom Spaces.

- Main presenters act as hosts and always have a megaphone, which means they can be heard by everyone in the zone.
- Meanwhile, everyone else's vocal distance is the same few meters as usual
- Users can raise their hands to be assigned a megaphone
- Multiple megaphones can be assigned to users
- Moderaters can mute or unmute people locally (as before)
- People list will be split between in and out of zone
This comes from usability testing and conversation with many of our dev community and brand partners, who were looking for a more organized way to handle a few-to-many style of conversation/presentation, akin to any social audio platform out there. The huge benefit, of course, being that your literally co-located with the people around you in Vatom Spaces :)
We're working on streamlining the process, but wanted to get it out to our users and developer community earlier rather than later. To set up a presentation zone:
- Plugins-> Presentation Zone Plugin
- Insert-> Zone
- Rightclick the zone to manipulate its sizing
- Tip: Recommend putting the zone (which should be made invisible when you're done resetting it) is sitting on top of an obvious landmark (i.e. "step on the red platform to enter the presentation zone")
- You can make the zone invisible like any other asset (more info in world creator help)
Tips on using the presentation zone:
- If you close the presentation zone side panel, you can open it again via the "people" menu
- Moderators only click to talk, while guest speakers have to press-and-hold to talk (solves for the constant background noise issues that plague most social audio platforms/feature sets)
What's coming next in this feature set:
- Integration with the people menu
- Integration wtih upcoming revamped chat system, including Q&A queue
- Folding this into the more casual "audio zone" plugin, which facilitates medium-sized group conversations
- Visual telegraphing made more obvious for who is speaking (avatars glow, get larger, etc.)
- More integrated video controls
